Let's step outside of the box for today's post on kitchen design. I want to share some creative, unique kitchen ideas to get your ideas flowing! Stay with me, as I'm sure some of them won't be for everyone but this will be a fun adventure to hopefully inspire you to get creative in your kitchen.
I want to start with no upper cabinets. Sounds a bit unconventional, but hear me out. If you are blessed with a large enough footprint for the kitchen, no upper cabinets will allow for more windows. Allowing more natural light in the kitchen makes for a very open and airy feeling in the kitchen. It also makes the space feel more inviting and less utilitarian as if you weren't in the kitchen at all. You could hang artwork on the walls or have beautiful roman shades on all the windows to add color, texture, and softness to the room. The images below show two totally different design styles but you'll notice no upper cabinets. Pretty dreamy if you ask me!

Let's talk dark and moody kitchens next. Dark cabinets with dark countertops offset by warm wood floors and a light backsplash strike a perfect balance of sophistication and contrast. Using dark cabinets adds drama and high style to the kitchen. Using mirror tiles for the backsplash can add some light-reflecting qualities while going with a light color tile adds subtle contrast. Here are some images to help bring the dark and moody kitchen inspirations to life.

The last out-of-the-box kitchen idea I have for you is using color! Saturated bold color cabinets, whimsical colorful fabrics on window treatments or barstools, or colorful appliances. Your kitchen should reflect your style and if color is your thing then why not explore color in the kitchen. Whether you're injecting a bold color in a few spots or using colored kitchen cabinets everywhere your kitchen will have syle and personality. Here are some ideas of what I mean!

I hope these ideas have sparked some ideas of your own to try in your home! Whether you add a dark color island or inject some bright color with hardware, just remember to stay true to what you love!
